The Government’s Warm Homes Plan is an initiative designed to improve home energy efficiency, lower heating costs, and promote cleaner energy solutions launched in 2024 and set for delivery in 2025. Its over arching goal is to upgrade five million homes within five years.

The key elements the plan seeks to galvanise to deliver its objectives are : to boost installation of heat pumps with funding of up to £7,500, promote and deliver insulation upgrades, provide support for low-income households and renters, introduce planning reforms to simplify installation processes, refine and create new funding schemes and grants and deliver the plan in collaboration with local and devolved governments across the UK.

The benefits of the plan are to help households save on energy bills, reduce environmental impact by promoting greener heating options and expand access to homegrown energy solutions with increased aid for renters, social housing residents, and low-income families. The plan also aims to increased access to the Warm Home Discount Scheme. For more information click HERE

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides grants to encourage property owners to replace existing fossil fuel heating with more efficient, low carbon heating systems including air source heat pumps. Successful applicants can benefit from up to £7,500 to cover the cost and installation of the heating upgrades. These grants help property owners overcome the upfront cost of installing a low carbon heating system. The aim of this scheme is to incentivize and increase the deployment of low carbon heating. This scheme is part of a wider package of policies we are introducing to scale up heat pump deployment and support industry to reduce the costs of heat pumps.

The applicant does not have to source or find their own installer, simply register with g4hi.co.uk and follow the process to be considered. Boiler upgrade scheme installers must be certified by the Micro generation Certification Scheme (MCS), a nationally recognised standards organisation that gives you assurance of the quality of your product and competence of your installer. It also ensures that your installer complies with high consumer protection standards. For more information click HERE

GBIS does what it says on the tin pretty much! Income is not considered in relation to applications for this scheme. GBIS has the widest ‘gateway’ in terms of applicant qualification / eligibility requirements and could potentially be granted to greatest number of UK homes but for the time being can only to be used for insulation measures.

To qualify a property has an energy performance certificate (EPC) of D, E, F or to G (or no EPC at all) AND The property has a Council Tax banding of A, B, C or D. When you apply via g4hi.co.uk we will check all this for you as part of the registration process, simply enter your postcode, register and verify your request via your email, then enter the household details and sign the consent form. Homeowners, Landlords and Tenants can apply but if you are a tenant, you must speak with and get permission from your landlord before you apply. Landlords must sign Data consent and give permission before any surveys or works can be installed. For more information click HERE

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a government-led energy efficiency program or scheme, established to address fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions in residential properties. ECO4 is a regulatory obligation requiring energy companies to implement energy efficiency measures in domestic properties. It is not a grant program as such; delivery stakeholders and providers determine which retrofit projects to fund, balance the costs with the amount of funding allocated, conduct retrofit assessments, coordinate the funded projects and the installation of works via regulated and Trustmark accredited installers.

ECO4 targets improvements in the least energy-efficient homes and households experiencing fuel poverty, focusing exclusively on properties with energy efficiency ratings in bands D through G. The scheme promotes a comprehensive, multi-measure, whole-house retrofit approach rather than isolated upgrades. Additionally, ECO4 sets a minimum requirement to ensure that private tenure homes in energy efficiency bands E, F, and G are upgraded, prioritizing the treatment of the least efficient properties.

The funding landscape in the UK has changed frequently over the last 20 years which can make it difficult to find the right and/or the most up to date information. Current HM Government schemes are The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4), The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) and also the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUG) and the Warm Homes Plan announced by The Chancellor in Autumn 2024. Navigating the funding schemes and applying can be very confusing so g4hi.co.uk has been created to provide applicants with a single point to register their property for multiple schemes while adding an extra layer of consumer protection.

Applicants using the G4hi.co.uk application platform may ONLY apply for official HM Government Eco-Funding schemes using the G4hi.co.uk platform. HM Government eco-funding includes a number of schemes to help reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions. The over-arching objective is to upgrade UK residential properties to deliver energy conservation savings and combating fuel poverty.

Yes, warranties are provided by your survey and install team and with HM Government backed funded works there are extra layers of protection including;

Manufacturer Warranties: These are typically longer in duration (e.g., 7-25 years) and cover issues related to the quality and longevity of the installed equipment and materials.

Workmanship Guarantees: These are shorter-term (ranging from 1 to 10 years) and ensure that the installation is carried out correctly and in accordance with standards. Policy Variability: The exact duration and coverage of these warranties or guarantees depend on the installer, manufacturer, and type of measure installed. Registration Required: Many warranties require homeowners or the energy provider to register the installation with the manufacturer to ensure coverage.

It is important to always review the details of any warranties or guarantees provided with your survey and install team. The terms and conditions will vary by installer and they must specify the nature of the cover, exclusions, and the process for making a claim should the need arise.

I did not think I’d be eligible but…

I did not think I’d be eligible but Charles and Kate have been fantastic guiding me through and overseeing what has resulted in a 2 phase upgrade. Phase 1 loft insulation completed – the house is now noticeably less draughty. Phase 2 is just about to start this will get some heating into my home. Although the process took awhile before the work started I have been kept up-to-date with application progress throughout. Altogether a good experience. Thank you

All is not lost!!

Very grateful
